(The statement below contains some plot spoilers.)
This show reflects and confronts the reality of our world today, where bigotry, oppression, verbal and physical attacks are constant threats to many marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ+ community. We want to take these issues head-on without making the production unnecessarily triggering or traumatizing.
“Unstoppable: A Queer Dancical” contains explicit depictions of sensitive and potentially distressing subjects, including verbal attacks toward LGBTQ+ individuals, scenes of physical confrontation, acts of gun violence, and suicide. Visuals of a gun and sounds of gunshot (normal volume level) are included, though no flashing or strobe lights are used. Viewer discretion is advised.
While we are addressing these intense topics with the intention of fostering awareness, understanding, and resiliency, it may nonetheless be emotionally challenging for some audience members. Please take care of your well-being and consider the nature of the content before attending. On that note, we recommend seeing the show together with friends or loved ones, so that you have an immediate source of comfort and support.
If you feel the need for further support or have concerns about your emotional response, we strongly encourage you to reach out to appropriate resources, your support system and community, or a mental health professional.
